Blue Bird Resale is a mission-powered resale shop created by Foster Kids Matter.
We’re giving donated clothing and accessories a second life while creating a new, sustainable source of funding for Foster Kids Matter, and expanding the ways we can support foster and kinship families in our community.
Every public purchase helps fund the operations and programs that keep our mission moving forward. At the same time, Blue Bird will give eligible foster and kinship families opportunities to shop for clothing at no cost through Foster Kids Matter.
So when you donate or shop Blue Bird, you’re helping in two ways:
You’re strengthening the long-term sustainability of Foster Kids Matter while helping us put more resources directly into the hands of the families we serve.

The first 100 orders will receive a special First Flock 2026 designation, a small patch that says what it means:

But First Flock will only ever belong to the first 100.

As Foster Kids Matter grows, so does the need for sustainable support behind the mission.
Blue Bird creates an ongoing source of revenue through resale while also providing another practical resource for the children and caregivers we serve. It isn't separate from the mission — it's another way to strengthen it.
Everyone! Blue Bird is open to the public, and no membership or registration is required to shop.
Eligible foster and kinship households can also shop for clothing at no cost using their Blue Bird Member Card.
The Blue Bird Member Card provides eligible foster and kinship households access to clothing at Blue Bird at no cost.
The Member Card allows us to make shopping simple and discreet while also helping Foster Kids Matter responsibly manage and measure the program.
Registration helps us understand how Blue Bird is serving our community and ensures we can manage the program responsibly as it grows.
It helps us track how many children we're serving, understand changing clothing and sizing needs, plan inventory, and measure the impact Blue Bird is making.
It also means members won't need to repeatedly explain their circumstances each time they shop.
We collect only the information needed to manage Member Card access, understand clothing needs, and measure Blue Bird's impact.
This may include basic caregiver information, information relevant to clothing needs, and Member Card shopping activity. Individual children and households are not publicly identified in our impact reporting.
Yes. Members can shop during regular store hours, but private shopping appointments are also available for those who would feel more comfortable with additional privacy, a quieter environment, or simply more time and space.
Right now, we're focused on new and very gently used clothing for kids and teens, along with shoes and pull-ups.
What we accept may change as Blue Bird grows, so please check our current donation list before bringing items to the store.

Please don't leave donations outside or at the door. Every donation needs to be received, sorted, and stored properly, and unattended items can create issues with weather, security, and limited storage space.

No. Blue Bird was made possible through private funding given specifically to create this new venture.
Funds previously raised or donated for Foster Kids Matter's existing programs were not redirected to open Blue Bird.
Blue Bird was created to add capacity and sustainability to the mission — not take resources away from the work already happening.
Because the private funding behind Blue Bird was given specifically to help Foster Kids Matter build something capable of generating resources beyond a single gift.
A one-time donation can meet an immediate need. Blue Bird is designed to turn a dedicated investment into an ongoing source of support — while simultaneously creating another way for foster and kinship households to access clothing.
Revenue from Blue Bird helps support the programs and operations that keep Foster Kids Matter moving forward.
First Flock is our way of recognizing the people who believed in Blue Bird before the doors even opened.

Hope Bags are designed to meet immediate needs when a child enters foster care. Blue Bird gives eligible foster and kinship households another way to access clothing as needs change over time.
Each serves a different purpose — giving us more ways to show up when they're needed.
